Red 2G Food Color or Red 2G Food Additive or Red 2G Food Dye finds application as synthetic red
azo dye and finds solubility in water as well as slight solubility in
ethanol. The dye normally comes as disodium salt of
8-acetamido-1-hydroxy-2-phenylazonaphthalene-3,6 disulphonate and finds
application as dye for paper, crepe paper, coatings, inks, fine tissue.
Further, it can also be used for staining in histology. Made available in
black granular and powder form, its part of commonly used dyes in the food,
pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries and comes with properties of
water-insoluble matter, percent by mass (maximum) of 00.20; Dye
intermediates, percent by mass (max) of 00.50 and subsidiary dyes, percent
by mass (max) of 02.00.
